The Art Folder is used to store projects in progress, related vocabulary and written information, maps, worksheets, and other supplemental materials. It remains in the <span style="font-weight:bold;">Art Room</span> until the end of the year but will be on display for a beginning "sneak peek" during the <span style="font-weight:bold;">Bates School Open House on October 15, 200</span>8.<br /><br />This year, <span style="font-weight:bold;">first, third,</span> and <span style="font-weight:bold;">fifth</span> graders are learning to draw <span style="font-weight:bold;">figurative self portraits</span> using lines and shapes and some special artists' "formulas". <span style="font-weight:bold;">Second</span> and <span style="font-weight:bold;">fourth</span> grades are drawing <span style="font-weight:bold;">facial self portraits</span> using special classroom mirrors. Even <span style="font-weight:bold;">kindergarten</span> is in on the act with their own self portrait drawings which will be <span style="font-weight:bold;">on display in the kindergarten center</span>.
